Some cooks are planned. This one just happened.

It was one of those nights where the tater tots were already going on the Blackstone, the bacon needed to happen, and two smash burger patties were sitting there asking to be part of something bigger.

So I smashed the patties thin, chopped everything up together, melted cheese over the whole pile, and hit it with a heavy drizzle of Guy Fieri's Top Secret Sauce. Red onion, green onions, done.

What came off that griddle was pure game day food: crispy tots, crusty smash burger crumbles, smoky bacon, melty cheese, and that tangy sauce tying it all together.

I called them Smashburger Tots, and the name stuck.

Why This One Works

The smash-chop is the whole trick. Smashing the patties thin gives you maximum crust, and chopping them up means every bite of tot gets a piece of that crusty beef.

The red onion isn't decoration — its bite cuts through all the richness. And Top Secret Sauce? That's the flavor that makes people ask "what IS that?"

Made for Game Day

This feeds 4–6 as a shareable, and it's built for a crowd: one griddle, one pile, zero leftovers.

Fire up the Blackstone, get the tots crispy, and let the smash burgers do the talking. That's the Daddio way.
